Clean Water

Clean water is necessary for life. Most people take clean water for granted. We turn on the tap and there it is—clean water. The other day as I was walking through a rural Kenyan neighborhood, I noticed a young girl drawing water from a well for her family. She was actually working to get clean water!

I was reminded of John chapter four when Jesus met a woman in Samaria at the community well. She was tired of working for clean water! Jesus said told her of the Living Water; He spoke of Himself. That Living Water is everlasting life. The women said, “give me this water, that I thirst not.” Jesus said, “I that speak unto thee am he.” Then she went and told the town about Jesus. Many of those who heard came to Jesus and believed on Him. They received the living water.

Are our hearts broken for the billions of people the world over who have never tasted of the living water? Many of them have never even heard that eternal life is free! They are working in vain trying to earn favor with God, but their sin is separating them from Him. This living water, is free to those who put their faith in Christ alone for the forgiveness of sins. The work is done; eternal life is a free gift of God because of the work of Christ on the cross.

Will we spread the message? Maybe someone will believe and turn to Christ, the Living Water.
